Cheesden Lumb Mill was built in 1786, the first of some twenty mills that would populate the valley, it's ruin is located just below Ashworth Moor Reservoir.

The Ruins of 'Four Acre Mill' (c. 1810) at a point on the map called 'Paradise'. This had a 36ft water wheel and huge lodge (now grown over) to provide a consistent head of water.
