The Ruins of 'Four Acre Mill' (c. 1810) at a point on the map called 'Paradise'. This had a 36ft water wheel and huge lodge (now grown over) to provide a consistent head of water.
Scout Moor Wind Farm on the hills above was built by Peel Wind Power (developers of The Trafford Centre), cost £50 million and opened in September 2008. There are 26 turbines producing enough energy for the needs of 40,000 homes.
